The Horse Healer Guide to Facial Expression(s)

Via
There's just something about this drama. I like it, but I'm not entirely sure why. It's not the acting, which is okay but not great. It's not the writing. (Again, decent, but nothing special.) And it's definitely not the directing, which is usually quite heavy-handed. (Actually, I blame most of Horse Healer's faults on the directing.) Although I'm unfamiliar with many of the actors, those I have seen before are not showcasing their talents in this particular drama.
But despite all its faults, there is something that I find very engaging about Horse Healer. And maybe I should blame that on the director as well. I'm not entirely sure what that ineffable something is, but for now I'm hooked. I can't say that I love this drama. Nor do I feel like it's drama crack. But I enjoy watching it, and I find myself looking forward to the next opportunity to watch more.

Oohlala Spouses Episode 1 Recap

So, I know I'm starting this a little late, but I'm going to really try to catch up. Also, I'll try to make my recaps a bit shorter. But I hate to cut things out of the first episode, because they're all part of the set-up, and everything seems important. Hopefully I'll get better at cutting down.

Gaksital Gangnam Style

I just had to share this. If you don't know the original, get out from under that rock, silly!

There are some great spoofs of Gangnam Style, but my favorite is this remix with Gaksital. Sooooo perfect!
The heys! The Count bouncing around! Kang To's general awesomeness! Kenji's rage! Awww, Kang San!
Also, I'm amazed at how well the Charleston fits this song. Who knew?
But now we have this (skip to 1:35):

*Happy sigh* My life is complete.

The Glorious Costumes of Gaskital

This drama has the greatest fusion costumes ever. There's so much of 30's fashion, but with modern twists and elements that keep the spirit of the 30's in mind. This isn't some weird melding that jars you out of the story and the period a la A Knight's Tale, rather a harmonious blend of past and present that adds to the glamour of the past and enhances the elements of fantasy in this drama. The costume designer had better win some awards for Gaksital, that's for sure.
